This is my attempt, to date, to develop a satisfiying MRR. I have tried various scales over the years but
always come back to HO. My problem has always been space. I live in FL so there is no basement and the garage is either too cold, too hot, too humid or too full to use.
I also came to realize that I am not an operator, meaning the shifting of box cars around on a layout holds only limited interest. I like to have a train running, especially
a passenger train, but you can only watch such a model go around in a set pattern for so long before it gets boring. So what is it about MRR that attracts me?
I finally realized while I was in my recently past N scale days that it was modelling in an attempt for realism that draws me. I want to create those scenes you see in the various MRR magazines.
IMO you can't do that in N scale very well because of the lack of choice in building kits and scenery details. However, this is HO's stong suit. I like to say
'There aren't many things that exist in real life that you can't find in HO!"
So begins an honest attempt to achieve my dream... an operational MRR (small or otherwise) that is full of those eye catching, highly detailed scenes. I am not going to be overly concerned about being PC (prototypically correct). I'm going to stay around 1948-1950 with a general NYC theme but if you see something out of whack, please, just look the other way. I'm doing what I want to do how I want to do it. Where I do manage to be PC, trust me, it's strictly coincidental!
We'll see how things turn out!
