(It was a small group, but with wives and guests we filled a tour bus, and had a great time).

The 2005 USS Putnam Reunion was held September 8-12 in San Diego at the Handlery Hotel & Resort. Friday, Sept. 8 - We went to Marine Corp Recruit Depot for a 10:00 am graduation and visited the Museum on base. We had lunch at Tom Ham's Lighthouse Restaurant on Harbor Island. From there we had a driving tour of downtown San Diego. Saturday, Sept. 9 - We toured the USS Midway Aircraft Carrier Museum on San Diego Bay. We visited Seaport Village, enjoyed a box lunch there, then proceeded to the Navy yard for a tour of a live ship -- the USS Rentz, which had been most recently in South America for a successful drug bust. Our final tour on Sunday, Sept. 10 began with a Champagne Brunch at the Bali Hai on Shelter Island. We proceeded north to La Jolla, then up to Mt. Soledad for a 360 degree panoramic view of the San Diego area, also enjoying the Veterans Memorial there. Our final stop was a visit to Birch Aquarium at Scripps Institute.

The Saturday Evening Banquet at the Handlery Hotel, with 45 persons in attendance, was a delicious buffet and included a cash bar. All attendees were introduced and some stories were told. There were several happy raffle drawing winners!
